The National Science Foundation Funds CIR Evaluation!
Written on December 23, 2009 by Elliot Shuford
We recently received some fantastic news about the Citizens Initiative Review: the National Science Foundation has awarded a very generous grant to the CIR evaluation team led by Professor John Gastil. Prof. Gastil, from University of Washington, is an expert in deliberative democracy and is joined by distinguished researchers Mark Henkels from Western Oregon University and Katherine Cramer Walsh from the University of Wisconsin in leading the evaluation of the CIR next year.
The NSF-funded evaluation will document how many Oregon voters see, trust, and use the information provided by the Citizens’ Initiative Review. We see this evaluation, conducted by an independent team of established researchers, as being critical to understanding the impact of the CIR process, and essential to moving the CIR forward.
This is a great way for us to close out an already very successful year for Healthy Democracy Oregon. We wish you and yours a happy holiday season.
