Last week, Healthy Democracy Oregon presented at two legislative hearings to give an update about its work on the Citizens’ Initiative Review. Both CIRs were completed last month, and the citizens’ statements from the reviews will appear in the Voters’ Pamphlet. A research team funded by the National Science Foundation is currently evaluating how voters view this information and how useful it will be. If all goes well, by 2011, an independent commission within the executive branch will oversee future CIRs.
