For
those of you checking out Healthy Democracy Oregon's new website for the first
time, welcome. For those of you returning to HDO's site, welcome back.
Over the next few months we'll be spending a lot of time here on the HDO
blog -- keeping you up to date on the Citizens' Initiative Review demonstration
(scheduled for 9/21 - 9/25 in Salem, more later), publishing research on
Oregon's initiative process, providing updates on the 2008 ballot initiative
cycle, and spending a good amount of time discussing the underpinnings of the
CIR and deliberative democracy in general.
This summer, as things heat up (both literally and figuratively) HDO
staff will be touring the state and engaging Oregonians from all walks of life
in a Listening Project. The Listening Project is an opportunity for Oregonians
to talk frankly, and uninterrupted, about the health of our democracy. The
project is currently underway, so check back soon for the first update.
As with all that we do, we encourage you to send us your feedback and
